Swim Meets
Our club usually host two to four swim meets throughout the year to provide a competitive opportunity for our swimmers and to generate required operational revenues. NPB does not have a required amount of hours that families are required to work, instead we hope that all families feel the importance to help and volunteer in making our program better. Parent volunteers are needed in many aspects of our team, including serving on a committee, as an official, or serving as a meet volunteer. All families are expected to volunteer throughout the season.
Meet Committee is headed by our officials, our club host two to four meets per year.
Hosting a swim meet is a big endeavor. Each session of a swim meet requires a minimum of 25 volunteer.
Below are some of the volunteers needed.
1.
Officials- In order to run a sanction swim meet, we are required to have at least one meet referee, meet starter, and two stroke and turns.
2.
Timers - Each lane should have at least two timers.
In our pool we only have six lanes, so only 12 timers are needed.
3.
Timing System and
Meet Management software:
Often overlooked (but this is what makes the meet run so efficiently) is the state of the art timing system and meet management software.
These programs make it possible to run hundred of races and have results within minutes.
Two volunteers are needed to run our timing system.
4.
Hospitality - A very important role in every swim meet.
All swim meets are volunteer base, one way to keep volunteers, volunteering is to treat them well.
It is a tradition of our sport that we take care of our officials, timers, and coaches by providing them with drinks and snacks.
Five to six volunteers are needed to handle the hospitality tent.
5.
Runners - A runner is a volunteer that helps post and collect times.
Two volunteer runners are always needed.
